I met a British mechanical engineer in Singapore where I stayed for business related to construction for 3 years from 1983. That was the first time that I recognized the job of mechanical and electrical quantity surveyor (M&E QS) and learned that “M&E QSs” are required to possess extensive expertise and their job covers a wide range of tasks. At that time, in Japan, each mechanical and electrical facility engineer engaged in all the tasks involved, ranging from design to quantity surveying and management of construction, meaning that the division of labor was not promoted. I decided to establish my own company as I felt that labor division would be propelled eventually in design, quantity surveying, and construction management for building facilities, like in construction works. While SANTEC has grown as the industry’s pioneer in the fields of quantity surveying and estimation for building facilities, we will strive to become able to provide products as a cost consultant for building facilities in the global business environment in the construction industry.
